Campbell’s House Bill on Increasing Taxi Charges in Florida

Millions of tourists are coming in Orlando, especially to the famous Disney World, and other amusement parks including Universal Studios, Sea World and Adventure Island.

If you are landing in Orlando and have no transport option, then the taxi ride providers at the airport will help you take to these destinations. However, recently the taxi service charges are bound to upsurge, especially in the South of Florida area, creating disruptions for the travelers.

Florida to Face Expensive Taxi Rides:

The passing of the House Bill 675, by Rep. Daphne Campbell, D-Miami would remove the prohibition on taxi cab drivers from passing on credit card company surcharges to consumers. The credit card company surcharges related to the fees that cover the cost of a transaction, which is placed on the amount, paid on the taxi rides.

The current scenario is that the taxi drivers themselves pay the surcharges on the credit card payments done by the passengers. With the passing of the bill, the taxi Orlando services will charge a surcharge for customers who pay with a credit card on their travels. Even the costs of the limousine rides and other private or personal commute service costs will be affected with the passing of the House Bill 675.

House Bill to Improve Conditions of Taxi Drivers:

The reason for the passing of the bill by Campbell is to improve the poor conditions of the local drivers. The insurances cover the costs of the passengers and not the taxi drivers which results in sub-par conditions for many. The bill is likely to take effect this summer.
